CORE Electric Cooperative

Member-owned, not-for-profit electric cooperative providing distribution service to nearly 400,000 residents across Colorado's Front Range, with work in grid infrastructure, renewables and energy efficiency.

CORE Electric Cooperative is the largest member-owned electric distribution cooperative in Colorado, serving nearly 400,000 residents across a service area of nearly 5,000 square miles along the state's Front Range. Founded in 1938, it operates as a not-for-profit utility, with customers who are members: they elect the Board of Directors and have a voice in how the organisation is run. The service territory extends across areas including El Paso County and Weld County, Colorado.

The cooperative's technical work spans electric distribution, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and infrastructure and grid improvements. It provides reliable, affordable, clean and safe electric service as its core product, and is investing in energy efficiency programmes and renewable energy initiatives to meet the evolving needs of its members. Distribution and grid engineering, along with reliability and safety work across a large rural and suburban footprint, form the operational backbone of the organisation.

Beyond delivery, CORE runs community programmes covering electrical safety education, education grants for community development, and business development services in the communities it serves. Its stated approach is to connect lives and communities through choice and innovation, with an emphasis on service excellence and on meeting changing member needs.
