LUMA Energy is the transmission and distribution operator for Puerto Rico's energy infrastructure, having commenced operations in 2021. The company serves approximately 1.5 million customers across the island, managing more than 52,000 miles of transmission and distribution lines. Its workforce of nearly 50,000 employees is drawn from parent companies ATCO and Quanta Services, encompassing lineworkers, engineers, and technical specialists.
The company's technical focus spans grid modernization, smart meter deployment, and advanced distribution management systems. It also offers the Mi LUMA app, a digital tool that gives customers 24/7 account access and outage reporting capabilities. Customer service centres are distributed throughout Puerto Rico.
