Valar Atomics

Valar Atomics, founded in 2023, builds nuclear gigasites of high-temperature gas reactors to supply hydrogen, industrial power, data centre power and clean synthetic fuels in the United States.

Valar Atomics is an American nuclear energy company founded in 2023 that develops high-temperature gas reactors (HTGRs) for heavy industrial power and clean hydrocarbon fuel production. Its central concept is the nuclear gigasite: a cluster of hundreds of HTGRs built at a single location to supply grid-independent output, including hydrogen, data centre power, heavy industrial power and clean synthetic fuels. The company operates in the United States, with activity in Utah.

The commercial strategy rests on standardisation. Rather than bespoke builds, Valar Atomics intends to manufacture one standardised reactor design at scale, in pursuit of economies of scale that have eluded the nuclear industry for decades. Each gigasite is planned to host hundreds of these units.

On the technical side, the company's Ward 250 test reactor reached criticality in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy and the State of Utah. Valar Atomics has raised over $1 billion, including a Series B round led by Sequoia.

The organisation is staffed by nuclear engineers and physicists working across nuclear engineering, HTGR design, hydrogen and clean synthetic fuel production, reactor manufacturing and industrial power systems. Its stated aim is to deliver abundant, clean and reliable energy for the AI era and beyond.
